Western Digital released two very high capacity storage Laptop Hard drive Scorpio Blue 1TB and Scorpio Blue 750GB. Introduction of this hard drive made a significant shrunk in the capacity gap for the Desktop and Laptops. The highest capacity hard drive laptop available till the date was 500GB.

Scorpio Blue 1TB is 2.5”inch mobile hard drive with a thickness of 12.5 millimetres. It supports SATA1 with a transfer speed of 3GB/s.It is equipped with Western Digitals “Whisper Drive” technology that uses seeking algorithms producing Shock Guard making it shock tolerance. For maintaining the durability and reliability, it has a head packing to ensure that the recording head never touches the disk surface.

Both the drives are 8MB buffer memory space and spin of 5200 rpm which is slightly less than the usual laptop hard drive which is 5400 rpm. Scorpio Blue 750GB is available now costing $190. 1TB, for now only configured to My Passport Essential SE USB Drives but will be available as internal hard disk in few weeks expected to cost around $250.
